Mike Trout is on pace to have one of the Greatest Seasons in MLB History

Many baseball fans may argue that Mike Trout isn't the best player in baseball; however, they cannot deny that he is a phenomenal baseball player. But this season, Mike Trout is on pace to have one of the greatest seasons in MLB history.

This year Mike Trout has 12 home-runs, 25 rbi’s, and is batting .326 while having a statline of .452/.681/1.134 (On-Base %, Slugging %, On-Base + Slugging). By the end of the season, Trout is projected to have 42 home-runs, 106 rbi’s, and bat .326, which would all be career highs for the 2-time MVP. But the one thing that makes this season so great for Mike is: WAR (Wins-Above-Replacement).

As of 5/11/18, Trout has a WAR of 3.38, in which he is 1st in the MLB in that category. To put WAR into perspective, a mediocre Ryan Braun’s WAR is at 0.0 this season due to the lack of production he puts out on the field. Mike Trout is on pace to pass Babe Ruth’s single-season record of WAR (11.5) with a 12.6. No one in the past fifty years has had a WAR higher than 12.

This season has been great for Mike Trout so far. If he has the same consistency as he has had for the past six years, then this could be one of the greatest seasons we have ever seen in MLB history.
