The Paris Knife Assailant

One man with a knife attacked five people near the Paris Opera.

Hours after the attack, ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack. Around that time, President Emmanuel Macron called the assailant “a terrorist.”

The attacker stabbed 5 people, killing one and injuring the other four. Two of the victims that were injured were badly wounded.

The attacker is now dead. The police first tried stun guns, but they failed to stop him. The assailant ran at the police, but the police shot and killed him during his assault.

Macron said he salutes the courage of the police who "neutralized the terrorist" in the Paris knife attack, according to a tweet.

The assailant is reported to have yelled "Allahu Akbar" meaning "God is great" in Arabic.

His name was Khamzat Asimov. He was on a French watch list of people who could pose a threat to national security. He is a French citizen born in Russia’s republic of Chechnya.

The family of the attacker is being questioned along with a friend of his.

They have not released the names of any of the victims yet. These names are supposed to be released along with more details of the investigation.

Paris is again a victim of a gruesome event.
