Case Girls Golf Reflection on the Year
By Lauren Chiappetta
On Tuesday, October 5, 2016, the Case Girls Golf Varsity played their final match of the season at Sectionals. They played at Mee-Kwon golf course in Mequon. There were eight teams there at like, Brookfield Central, Homestead, Franklin, Racine Case, D.S.H.A, Wauwatosa East, Kenosha Bradford, and Oak Creek.
As a team the Case Girls shot 393, slightly above their seasonal average. It was a bittersweet ending for a great season, especially for the four seniors on varsity. Bryn Glennon, shot 85, Hannah Leonard 97, Nina Kortendick 107, Lauren Chiappetta 104, and Grace Wampole 113.
Bryn Glennon has played on the team for four years and had a great run. Senior, Hannah Leonard, has played on the team for all four years of her high school career and loved every second of it.
“My favorite thing about being on golf team is the people and the course Rivermoor because it is beautiful there and I have never had a bad round on that course. I like to play against Horlick because they are so friendly and I have friends on the team. The best lesson is to have your short game down because that's what will make or break your game”, said the Co-Captain Hannah Leonard.
Senior Nina Kortendick has played on the team for three years, she played volleyball sophomore year but came back as she could not stay away from playing golf. Grace Wampole is a senior and this is her first year coming out, she had a great year and had tons of fun.
Lauren Chiappetta has been on the team for two years and has loved every second of it and plans to play for the rest of her high school experience.
“I had a great time this year and it was amazing playing on varsity full time. I’m sad that the season has ended but I cannot wait for next season. My favorite meet of the season is when I played at regionals and broke my record score for nine and eighteen holes, it was such a great feeling to know I got to beat my personal best”, said Lauren Chiappetta.
“I think the most memorable moment of the season was when I realized we had secured second place at conference. It was very close to start the back nine and I was very nervous because to lose second place would have been devastating but when Hannah pared number six East and her Tremper girl took an eleven, I knew we were good. I am most proud of the way the girls bonded together this year as a team, both as Varsity and as entire team, consisting of Varsity and Junior Varsity. I’m also proud of the way we hung in there in some situations where things weren't going all that well, especially at conference and Regionals”, said Coach Berry. What a great way to end the season girls!
Girls Golf ended their season with a selfie at Meekwon golf course, a tradition they have followed after every meet.
