Girls Swim and Dive Ends on a Great Note

On Saturday, November 5th, 2016 the Case girls swim team competed in the Division 1 Kenosha Tremper Sectionals. With a score of 288 points they placed second out of fourteen teams.
“It was a very good meet for us eagles, but effort wise, it was the same because we were all doing our best so we could make it to state.”, said McKenzie Sanchez when asked about the meet.
Emelia Selky, McKenzie Sanchez, and Tatum Thompkins all qualified for WIAA State Tournament. Emelia Selky qualified for state in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.70.
Mckenzie Sanchez qualified for state the second time, in diving with a score of 486 points and placed first.
“I was happy when I found out I got first.”, said Sanchez.
Tatum Thompkins qualified aswell with a score of 480 points, and she placed second. In the 100 butterfly Emily Bollendorf not only set a school record, but a Racine city record as well with a time of 55.81. In the 50 freestyle she had a time of 24.30 which was a personal record for her.
When I asked McKenzie Sanchez what the team will do to prepare for state she said, “[The team] will clean up entries fix form and just have fun.”
On Saturday, November 12, Emelia Selky, McKenzie Sanchez, and Tatum Thompkins competed in the WIAA State Tournament. As a team they placed 16th out of 50 teams and individually they all did amazing. In the 100 fly Emily Bollendorf took 4th place and Emelia Selky placed 21st in the 200 freestyle. McKenzie Sanchez competed in diving with a score of 459.15 points and placed 4th place overall. Tatum Thompkins competed in diving as well and placed fifth with a score of 457.35 points. Teammates McKenzie and Tatum stood next to each other on the podium and were able to be there for each other during an amazing moment. What a great swim season girls!
