Movie Review: Hacksaw Ridge

War of Hacksaw Ridge

Mckayla Righi

In theaters now! Go and see this incredible movie!

Hacksaw Ridge is an incredibly realistic movie about a man who went in the battle field; with no weapons to defend himself. This movie starts off with two young boys, who are brothers, running through the woods. When the boys got home they decided to fight. While they were fighting, Desmond (the older brother) picks up a brick and hits his younger brother in the head. After that incident, his parents were arguing and his father had a gun in his hand. Desmond grabbed his father until he was calm and ever since that day, Desmond swore that he would never pick up nor use a gun ever. Eventually Desmond met a woman named Dorothy and fell in love to marry her. Before he married Dorothy, he had signed up for the war right after his brother had done it.

This movie had incredible special effects on some of the more intense parts, such as when they were bombing the Japanese. Every part that involved the battlefield was really intense. These parts looked so realistic, that it was quite scary. I would recommend this movie for six-teen years or older. It has very gruesome parts in which men get blown up. It shows what happened to these men’s bodies and how parts came off of their bodies. There are some parts that are happy and exciting along with funny, but there were not many. This movie had an impact on me, and I wish there had never been any wars.

I rate this movie 4 out of 5 stars!
