Freshman Advocacy

Kellontra Riddle

Do you know what a freshman advocate is? Well I’m about to tell you. The Freshman Advocates are a nice group of people that help students find success in academics. Sometimes students feel better working with their advocate and feel they may explain it better than the teachers can pertaining to certain lessons. I got to interview Miss Walker and asked her some questions.

I asked Miss Walker what her favorite thing about this job is and this is what she had to say, “My favorite part is when kids start to understand their work and progress as a student.”

Miss Walker’s least favorite part of the job is when teachers or staff members guide the students in the right direction and the students don’t take responsibility for their actions. She also thinks the problem most likely stems from the lack of support.

If you are falling behind and you feel hopeless… Go see your freshman advocate to climb the tower of hope!

Advocate: A person who publicly supports a particular cause.
