Case Cheerleading Competition: Achieving new Things?! 🎀

Every friday night at the football games, you saw the cheerleaders cheer on the sidelines and perform on the field at halftime. Now you can see them tuesday and friday night doing the same thing. But there's a cheer team you don't get to see very often, and that the Case Cheerleading Competition team!

They don't perform on the football field or the basketball court, they leave it all on the mat in front of hundreds of other cheerleaders and tons of people. At their most recent competition, the UCA Milwaukee Championship, the cheerleaders took the mat full of hope and confidence, but the nerves were still there.

After 2 minutes and 30 seconds of doing nothing but throwing stunts, pumping up the crowd, and doing it all with a smile on their face, they walked off the stage nervous but feeling hopeful. This competition meant more than most people knew. It wasn't just about placing. They were fighting for a bid. A bid to Nationals.

A bid to Nationals means you qualified to compete in the national competition against all the best high school teams across the country. It is the most prestigious competition a high school cheerleader can compete in. It was every girl's dream at the moment to qualify.

Waiting for all the teams to finish performing caused the nerves to get even worse. Competing in Large Varsity meant the girls performed 11th and had to sit through the remaining performances until the award ceremony.

The moment finally came where they called all the teams on the stage for the awards ceremony. The teams sat in a circle and were all hoping they did enough to get the bid.

Case Cheer was called, handed a second place trophy and a packet. The packet contained all the information they needed for nationals, which occurs February 9th.

They reached their goal of qualifying for nationals and it was the best feeling for all of them but there was still an obstacle in the way, the cost. Nationals takes place in Orlando, Florida at Disney World. Adding the costs of the Disney passes, plane tickets, rooms costs, competition/entry fees, food, and all the hidden fees, it does not end up being a cheap trip.

The cost quickly became an issue and the dream for nationals started to slip away. After some time and digging, some money came up enough to send the team to nationals and a much more du-able price.

The girls practices have been in full swing, drilling their routine and adding as many upgrades to their performance, to make it as amazing as they can. For most people, February 9th seems pretty far away, but for the Case cheerleaders, it's crunch time and February 9th is just around the corner.
