Finals Schedule for Everyone

The second semester finals schedule has dramatically changed from the first semester as a relief for students. Seniors have a very different schedule as well, since they will be graduating before everyone else.
For grades nine through eleven the schedule is very similar to the one that was implemented last school year, before block scheduling. This year on any final day, students will report to advisory for around forty minutes, take their two finals, and then have a study hall that starts around noon, and they can leave if they have a ride, or be dismissed at 12:38.
“I like that we only have two finals a day, this way I won’t have to cram for multiple subjects on one day,” said sophomore Elise Sparks.
The new schedule definitely lends a lot of study time for cramming or reviewing study material, before and after their finals. The blocks for taking finals are about two hours long which leads to students being less stressed about completing their final on time and more relaxed because they have more downtime in between their finals.
“This new schedule makes it much easier and cleaner for the teachers, we get more time to grade finals, and students don’t have to sit in class all day focused on other finals,” said Mrs. Grady.
Finals start for grades nine through eleven on Tuesday, June 6th and end the last day of school on Friday June 9th. On Tuesday students will take block 1A and 2A finals, and on Wednesday they will take 1B and 2B exams. The following day, Thursday, students will take finals 3A and 4A, Friday they will take their last exams for blocks 3B and 4B.
“The new schedule is nice because the days are shorter and I will have to deal with less stress,” said sophomore Carter Boyle.
The finals schedule for seniors is a bit different since they graduate on June 4th, before the end of school so they take their finals earlier. Seniors start finals week on Friday, May 26th, then have a slight break due to memorial day, finals end on Thursday, June 1st. Instead of taking two finals a day seniors are doing a mix of how many they take a day.
“Senior finals are always different, it will be interesting to see what they do next year,” said senior Amari Dailey.
Friday, before memorial day weekend, seniors will take their 2A exam during the school day. On Tuesday seniors will take exams 1B, 2B, and 3B, and be released at 10:38, after all finals are completed. The next day they will take exams 1A, 3A, and 4A, and be dismissed at the same time as the previous day. Thursday, seniors will finish finals by taking their block 4B exam, and will be dismissed to practice for graduation right after.
Finals schedules are different for a multitude of reasons no matter what grade, and while they may not be everyone's favorite weeks out of the school year they are necessary to fulfill a champion education.
