Case Softball Coaches

It maybe a lucky four leaf clover or a special experiences and bonding off the field that makes a team successful, but the coaches are dedicated in their own ways as well. They go above and beyond what they are expected to. There is drama sometimes through adversity, but in the end we all come together as a team.

A special experience from Case Softball 2017 I remember was when we went to Green Bay for the weekend for a tournament there. It was the longest weekend of my life. We had 3 games in a row on Saturday in the freezing cold. One of the assistant coaches brought a heater in the dugout so we could try and warm up in between innings. The day after, before we headed home, we took a tour of Lambeau field as a team and it was really cool to be able to bond with my team over something other than softball. We just enjoyed ourselves and had a good time. Our coach, Don Katzer, put a lot of time into the trip trying to make sure it went smoothly and so we didn’t have to worry about anything.

The coaches go above and beyond to make sure the team does what they need to do. Not to mention coach Todd Vance as well. He continues to push all of the girls and puts in effort that no normal high school coach would put in. As the pitcher I see a coach every Sunday. Coach Vance made sure he was able to make it to a lesson of mine so he was able to coach me better in the dugout during a game.

Coach Mike Hoecherl brings seeds and does the scorebook. He always knows what to say in the dugout after a bad inning or how to cheer the players up. When we request it, he does chapel which is just a prayer and motivation before home games.

The coaching staff has shaped us a lot as a team. We have come together and been able to share some great memories. Case softball is really something special.
